Two Jack Lake (Lakeside Campground)
What a fantastic weekend of tree-sleeping, kayaking, cooking, and general merry-making! Two Jack Lakeside is very welcoming, has hot showers and a place to wash your breakfast pots! It’s quiet with a 11:00 curfew for fires and drinking (though we saw no indication that it was enforced and were able to quietly keep a small fire going until 1am!)
Easy access off the 16; head West into Banff National Park (permits are required outside 2017), take the first Banff turning and head North to lake Minniewanka — follow the loop around (about 10 miles) and turn into the Lakeside campground. You’ll need to book in advance to reserve your spot. All of the lakeside loop spots were Tentsile friendly, we stayed in 56 and had great access to the lake for kayaking.
Site has free wood, free water, free showers, but reservation needs to be done when reservations open in January and fills up fast. More spots are available at Two Jack Lake Main — but have no lake access (though its not far to drive your kayak to the put-in)
We were pleased to introduce Alberta to our Connect tent! Nothing was said or asked about tree damage by the park wardens — though we like to use the ‘No Trace Kit’.
